River City Ransom: Downtown Special EX!! (Work in Progress)

Haha, okay about the name thing.  These "special characters" must be copied and pasted onto the storycharadata file under the name column.  Here are the letters.  They are along the top of the page.  Underneath each letter is what you highlight and copy, then paste onto storycharadata.  For example.  The first letter, A, is actually ,"  

so say your characters name is ALEX.  that would look like this:   ‚`‚k‚d‚w,    You put a comma at the end of the name. 

If you were curious about what the hell is on the rest of the page, that is me trying to identify every character on that list, with the ones that are named intending to be in my game.  Beside each name is the special technique that they have, identified by a number.  When I first got the game, every character had like 10 moves.  Trying to stay true to River City Ransom and Downtown Special, I kept it simple and limited each character to one special each, some have two.  I haven't gotten every character to show up.

Remember, you have to individually highlight and copy each letter and paste it under the name column in storycharadata, just typing it out won't work.

Dan, you can't use the KD Rename program, it is a big difference between KD names and SPSP names.

Can you post a demo of what you've done?

Only changed the faces and skills of the first 4 characters still waiting to undestand all the things in the data folder...

there will be time for that.  I'm gonna get more of my stuff together.  In the meantime, I posted a video on youtube split into 4 parts showcasing the game!  This is only the beginning, where I beat the bosses of the first gangs in the game: the Generic Dudes, the Frat Guys, and the Dragons.  Each video is 15 minutes, enjoy.  After you've watched it, I want to point out a couple issues I've been having with the AI, the bosses particularly.  Here they are:

hmmmmmm, I'm not sure dude, maybe your KD rename program has something to do with it.  I've never seen that KD naming thing before.  You tried naming him using the letters I gave you and copying and pasting each one?  In your video the face is still 0 when you change his name to RIC (0 is Alex's/Kunio's face), the spacing is right....not sure what the hell could be wrong. It's gotta be the KD program thing.

I used your letters for names.txt too the second try and It is the same result and yes RIC is Kunio...

Did you separate the letters by a comma?

hmm, your storycharadata only has 65 lines.  The one I have has like 240.  Here take one of the storycharadatas that I have and I renamed him RIC for you already.  Let me know if that works. Also, my bad about the comma thing. It's been a while since I had to name characters, but you don't need to put your own comma in between each letter, only at the end of the name you put a comma.

I watched the first video...GOOD CHARACTERS...I hope we see a release and after I will learn all this I will help how I can this game is so different to modify not like KD...

I was thinking maybe I shoulda skipped around a little more. Maybe I'll make another video and skip around more to show off more of the stages and gangs/bosses. Once I get to the point where the game starts giving me problems, I'll start listing off exactly what I can't figure out. As for right now, I need someone who is knowledgeable with the eventdata, scenario, and comstyle text files.

ah, 920kuns page...I originally discovered the Jidaigeki Remake on his youtube page. Its a shame he doesn't speak english, and that his page is all japanese. guaranteed he knows how to do it but if he doesnt speak english I don't know how he can help me.

hmmmm you sure he maked them??? because he speaks english I know because once he asked my help with a hack and we speaked in english I think I will ask him but I don't know if he checks youtube anymore.....I will send him a message now.

thanks a lot man for going out of your way to help me out.  I've stared at those files for so long and never figured out what to do.  Here's hoping he responds with something good!

Yes, I'm assuming that is how the gang and boss AI act.  It's how each gang is different from another.  The most I was ever able to manipulate was changing a number by chance so that a certain gangs carried chains.  I think.  I'll never figure out the rest.  

Each gang has something annoying about them that I want changed.  Too many gangs bring out the bombs and iron balls, and certain gangs like the homeboys aren't supposed to bring out any weapons but I've seen them get brass knuckles.  Little changes like that, shouldn't be too too difficult for someone that knows what they're doing.  

If you've seen my videos, and you should, you'll notice that sometimes some of the bosses are constantly running off the screen to get a new weapon.  It's pretty lame because they keep interrupting the fighting to run off the screen and get a new weapon. Why don't they just run to a nearby weapon, instead of running off the screen to spawn a new one.  I don't know if there's a way to stop this.  Also, when they run off the screen, they end up warping to the other side of the screen a lot of the time.  Only the bosses do this.  

I was just playing the game and got to the point where this character is supposed to join my crew.  When I said yes I looked at my character select screen and hes not there.  I'm pretty sure the whole character joining and leaving thing is related to eventdata.  I just know that there are gonna be a lot of problems with this.  

There's this stage I made from scratch in the game and I can't match the stage txt file with the objects.

Sorry for the long post but one other thing I can mention.  If you'll see in the videos again, that the gang members fall from the sky in certain stages, and run into walls that they don't know are there.  I'm positive this is related to a couple sections in the Stage txt files, called "Followerareastart" and "deleteareastart".  I've messed with them forever but haven't been able to get the results I want.  If anyone knows how to manipulate these, let me know please.
